In loving memory of Al (Goodie) Goodgasell who passed away June 23, 2009

I can't believe it's been a year,

Since I last kissed my Dad so dear.

As he gently squeezed my hands that day,

He calmly but gradually was slipping away.

I laughed, I cried, I prayed with him,

Knowing his life here was getting very dim.

I felt God's presence there in his room,

His peace, his love, but never any gloom.

Seven-thirty came and I told Dad,

I need to leave you for just a short while.

I gave him a big hug and kiss,

And somehow managed a smile.

When I came back just an hour later, he had already passed.

I never dreamed he would go that fast.

Two loving granddaughters at his side,

When God took him home to be with his bride.

Until we are all together again,
