Twp. collects thousands of pounds of e-waste
Butler Township gathered thousands of pounds of hazardous waste through from April 1 to June 30.
Tom Knights, Butler Township manager, reported at Monday's supervisors meeting that Butler Township collected more than 11,500 pounds of televisions, more than 1,500 pounds of latex paint, more than 1,000 pounds of computers and computer monitors and more than 300 pounds of printers.
He said Butler Township residents can contact waste management at any time for information on disposing of hazardous materials and electronics. The Butler Township building also has a collection site for glass recycling.

In addition to electronics, the township also collects batteries, asbestos, chlorine products, tires and pharmaceuticals.
Commission president Dave Zarnick said recycling is important in Butler Township, and encouraged residents to take advantage of collection opportunities.
“Butler Township residents are taking recycling seriously,” Zarnick said.
