Margaret McCurdy
In loving memory of our sister Margaret McCurdy
I Was In the House
When Dad winked at Mom and said, “Let’s take a nap.”
When Mom said “ Go lay down and I’ll be along as soon as I lay the kids down for a nap.” We kids tickled each other and laughed till it hurt and played till we were tired and lay for a nap.
When nine months later came another baby to be shared with us what a stand, what a miracle.
When plans for baptism, school, first communion, confirmation, life from internal, external all around love.
We laughed and played til we tired and lay down for a nap.
When things got rough and tossed about and gently fall down for a nap.
When all together there were a count of eight with twins miscarried, and we tickled each other till it hurt and lay down for nap.
When here and there we stood on our own and saw Mom and Dad lay down for a nap. Gathered with family, friends, friends of relatives, friends from here, there Dad and Mom lay for a nap.
Oh dear sister your life seems short, things undone, words unsaid. We here stand around more gathered, more tears, overwhelmed. Please tickle me I hurt. I am in the house
