The chair on the porch is empty

The rocking chair rocks no more,

There is no one there to say “How Do”

When we walk through the door.

The last words to me were, “Take it easy,”

You’d say them every time we’d part,

And on the day the good Lord called you home,

He also took a piece of my heart.

So on this somber day,

All my love to you I send,

Not only were you my grandmother,

You also were my friend.
