Saxonburg, KC survive in playoff battles
Ben Miller’s two-run double in the top of the sixth inning lifted Saxonburg to a 2-1 victory over Valley in the Butler County legion baseball loser’s bracket playoffs Thursday evening in New Kensington.
Miller’s hit drove in Logan Hickey and Mike McCarty.
The first four innings of the game were played on Tuesday, but play was suspended due to rain.
Evan Miller pitched three innings of relief to earn the win on the mound.
Jordan Hickey singled three times for Saxonburg (8-3-1). Valley’s season ends with a 12-4 record.
Matt Yough crushed two home runs and Cody Deal one in Karns City’s 4-1 triumph over Center Township.
Holden Martin worked five innings for the victory, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four and walking five.
Caleb Baxter doubled for Center Township (7-14).
Karns City (10-4) will face Saxonburg in an elimination game at a date, time and site to be determined.
