In Brief
[naviga:h3]Mars Primary plans annual diaper drive[/naviga:h3]
Mars Area Primary Center will hold its 12th annual “Stuff the Bus” Diaper Drive to benefit The Lighthouse Foundation food bank in Middlesex Township.
Diaper donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
The school will accept donations of new, packaged diapers, which may be “stuffed” into a school bus, provided by A.J. Myers & Sons bus company. The bus will be parked in front of the primary center.
At the end of the collection, the school bus will be used to transport all donations to The Lighthouse Foundation.
Elizabeth McMahon, assistant superintendent, said this collection typically supplies The Lighthouse Foundation with a year’s worth of diapers to benefit those served by the organization.

[naviga:h3]Pre-K assessment slated June 10, 11[/naviga:h3]
Mars Area Primary Center will offer pre-kindergarten assessments for next school year June 10 and 11.
The program is open to students who are registered for the 2020-21 kindergarten program and their parents.
Parents with a previously scheduled appointment for April 16 will be automatically rescheduled June 10. Those with appointments scheduled for April 17 will be rescheduled June 11.
All originally scheduled appointment times will remain the same.
As the assessments will be held in classrooms throughout the primary center, students and parents must have their temperature checked before entering the building.
As recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, no one with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be permitted to enter the building. In addition, all district staff members conducting the assessments will wear masks and full face shield.
Social distancing will be maintained at all times.
Assessments, which are by appointment only, determine a student’s fundamental skills, such as letter and number identification and writing. They will inform parents and teachers as to the student’s readiness to attend kindergarten.
Completed kindergarten registration packets may be turned in during the assessments. Registration packets are available online at www.marsk12.org.
