Room named after BC3 board member
BUTLER TWP — The room where the Butler County Community College Trustees meet monthly has been named after a longtime board member.
Ray Steffler has been on the board since 1985. He has been the board chair since 1999.
He joined the board as a student. Over 12 years, taking one course a semester, he slowly earned his BC3 degree while raising a family.
He was visually moved at the trustee meeting Wednesday by the gesture, which included a plaque that was unveiled in the room on the first floor of the Science and Technology Building on campus.
“It’s been a good experience for me,” he said.
And the success of students and others is “what keeps me going,” he said.
BC3 President Nick Neupauer said of Steffler: “He has been with the college through thick and thin. The history he brings is really helpful as we go forward.”
