Women's soccer now No. 6

The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team moved up one spot to No. 6 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II women's soccer national poll.

The Rock (7-0-1, 3-0) is coming off a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West wins last week.

The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team entered the top 20 of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II poll after a win and a tie against nationally ranked teams last week.The Rock (6-0-1) played to a tie against Mercyhurst and beat Lock Haven last week and is ranked No. 14 nationally and second in the Northeast Region.The rankings are believed to be the highest ever achieved for a Rock men's soccer team.

Shandy Gonzalez had 11 aces and Katie Jewart eight kills to lead the BC3 women's volleyball team to a 30-13, 30-14, 30-8 sweep over Westmoreland County Community College Monday.The Pioneers are now 10-3, 7-0.California (Pa.) 3, SRU 1 -Lindsay Weber had 19 kills and 19 digs and Layna Heilman-House added 12 kills and 15 digs, but the Rock fell to California (Pa.) University 30-22, 30-22, 26-30 and 30-15 Tuesday night.Sara Kirsch added 44 assists and eight digs for SRU (6-7, 0-3).
