City residents may begin disposing of leaves at a designated area of Memorial Park beginning Oct. 24.

Signs will direct residents to the area, which is open 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and holidays. The area will be open through November.

Leaves will be added to an existing compost area. They must be removed from plastic bags. Dumping of brush, rubbish and garbage is prohibited.

A curbside collection service will be provided by the city streets department. Residents may call the department at 724-285-8440 when all the leaves have fallen in their neighborhood.

Residents who plan on burning leaves on their property must call the Fire Chief at 724-283-3100 for instructions.
