Chicora man accused of being under influence of drugs while at court
A Chicora man is accused of being under the influence of controlled substances while at district court.
Ryan Nathan Banner, 39, was charged March 17 by state police in Butler with one misdemeanor count each of controlled substance possession and drug paraphernalia possession following a March 4 incident.
Police said while at court, District Judge Lewis Stoughton informed them Banner was outside and suspected to be under the influence of controlled substances. Troopers escorted Banner into the courtroom and searched him. Troopers found a syringe with a small amount of crack inside in Banner’s pocket.
Banner told police he was saving some crack for later when asked about the contents of the syringe.
Banner had a bond revocation hearing the same day for failing to report to probation. He was previously charged with two misdemeanor DUI counts.
Banner’s preliminary hearings are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton. He is being held in Butler County Prison on a $50,000 bail.
