As a special surprise, the following column has been written by the Easter Bunny himself! My questions from last week were relayed to him, and he sent a response.

Here’s what he said:

I’m told you have questions about my egg delivery process, and would be “hoppy” to explain.

I do not lay the eggs myself (could you imagine a 6-foot-tall bunny laying eggs too?). The eggs I leave behind are specially picked from my chicken friends. You know different eggs are used for different types of prizes, so there are also different chickens who produce them. The money chicken lays the money-filled eggs, the Kit-Kat chicken lays Kit-Kat eggs, and so on. This way, the process is easy and mess-free — no cracking involved!

I hope you (and your readers) know the joy I bring to Easter is only a fraction of the joy this holiday is intended for. Whether you spend it with family, at church, eating chocolate or attending some Easter-themed events, never forget to take this time and reflect on your blessings.

Celebrate the Easter story with a Good Friday Breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St. Tickets can be purchased at $10 for adults and $5 for children at the YMCA welcome desk or online at bcfymca.org/events/good-friday-breakfast.

The epic Egg Drop at Keystone Safari is back at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the front lawn of 2284 Mercer Butler Pike, Grove City. Make sure you bring a basket. Laugh the night away at First Friday’s Improv at 7:30 p.m. in Hobnob Theatre’s studio, 134 S. Main St., Butler. Tickets are $5 to watch or participate in the games. Visit hobnobtheatre.com for more details.

Hear the story of “The Ugly Duckling” through music at Slippery Rock University, thanks to students in the music department. This event starts at 10 a.m., with the concert following at 11:15. Children up to 7 years old can take part in the movement, sing-along, crafts and concert for free while learning about instruments and melody. Reserve a spot at SRU.edu/tickets.

Children can join in an egg hunt and visit an Easter train display all in Zelienople on Saturday. The hunt starts at 11 a.m. in Zelienople Community Park on Beaver Street. The free train display is open for public viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or for a sensory-friendly viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge, 330 E. Children up to age 11 are invited to the Herman Volunteer Fire Company egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the hall, 789 Herman Road. There will be breakfast pastries and even a surprise visit from a long-eared friend. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.

Visit West Liberty United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday for an egg hunt for children up to 12 years old. Bring a basket or bag to collect your goodies on the grounds of 135 Church Road, West Liberty. Visit the event Facebook page for more information.

Children of all ages are invited to the Barkeyville Church of God egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday on the campus, 5433 Pittsburgh Road, Barkeyville, Venango County. There will also be lunch. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.

Fairview Township is hosting a Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt at 7 p.m. Saturday at the municipal building, 1571 Hooker Road, in Fairview Township. This neon themed event is for children in fifth grade and younger, and will feature crafts and egg challenges. Registration is free and required via the Facebook page.

Boots, Beer and Boogie is a BYOB line dancing event at the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department hall, 373 Main St., Prospect, held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $6 for those under 16. For more information, visit the event Facebook page.
