Zelienople zoning board denies cell tower proposal
A proposal for a new telecommunications tower in Zelienople was shot down after the borough’s zoning hearing board denied a variance request.
Vertical Bridge LLC and Verizon Communications’ request for variance was considered and eventually denied during a zoning hearing board meeting Wednesday evening, March 25.
According to the meeting’s agenda, the two requested variance to both the setback and landscape requirements.
Borough manager Andrew Spencer said some residents, including adjacent property owners, came to the meeting to weigh in on the proposal.
Similar cell towers have been considered across Butler County, with some being approved while others were denied. In 2025, Middlesex Township’s zoning board rejected a similar proposal from Vertical Bridge, while Winfield Township approved a cell tower from The Crossroads Group and TowerNorth Development.
