North Catholic’s Lizzie Fabian, Mercyhurst commit, named to Big 33 flag football tournament team
The Big 33 Football Classic will hold a girls flag football tournament once again, and Butler County will be represented.
North Catholic wide receiver Lizzie Fabian was named to the Steelers team Tuesday, March 31, one of 22 players to make the roster.
Fabian is committed to Mercyhurst to play for its flag football team. The senior plays linebacker and “athlete” for the Trojanettes and has been a three-year starter and captain. She’s a “ferocious defender,” according to head coach Tim Aguglia and also plays hockey.
The girls flag games consist of four teams from Pennsylvania and Maryland: the Steelers and Eagles in Pa., and the Commanders and Ravens south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
The tournament will be held May 23-24 at Cumberland Valley School District.
No Butler County players made the Big 33 football game this season.
