PITTSBURGH — Police say two people are in stable condition after being rescued from a vehicle that plunged six stories from a downtown Pittsburgh parking garage.

Authorities say they're investigating why the sport utility vehicle ended up tumbling out of the structure Thursday night.

Sgt. Daniel Connolly says the driver lost control while rounding a bend then hit a parked car and fell backward out of the garage to an alley below. The vehicle plunged about 70 feet and landed upside down.

Police did not release the names of the victims.

PITTSBURGH — The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has agreed to let a volunteer group staff the Bushy Run Battlefield in Westmoreland County.The battlefield was one of a half dozen state historic sites the museum commission planned to close last year due to state budget cuts.Under the deal struck Wednesday, the battlefield, its visitors center and museum exhibits will still be owned by the state. The state also will provide two workers to maintain the battlefield, but the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society will otherwise staff the facility.The park was the site of a battle in 1763 between American Indians and British troops coming to break a siege at Fort Pitt.

EPHRATA — A movie theater in central Pennsylvania will soon become the first in the area to serve alcoholic beverages.In about two weeks, the Ephrata Main Theatre in Lancaster County will start selling beer, wine and cocktails at the late showings of selected films. Only people 21 and older will be allowed to attend those showings.
