Mobile America250 Museum makes stop in Slippery Rock
The PragerU Freedom Truck Mobile Museum is making it’s way through Pennsylvania for the 250th anniversary of American independence.
In partnership with the federal Freedom 250 initiative, Hillsdale College and The Institute of Museum and Library Services, the self-guided museum, parked in Slippery Rock on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, brought the history of the American Revolution to families in the area.
Starting with the original 13 colonies, the museum provides a timeline of actions the Founding Fathers took to fight against British rule. Guests get the opportunity to take a quiz to tell them if they align more with the British loyalist’s ideals or the colonists seeking independence.
The museum also covers the Declaration of Independence. A digital version of the document is displayed and guests can digitally sign their name to it.
The museum also covers through the nation’s Western expansion and includes a display of 50 American “heroes in history,” including figures ranging from Elvis Presley to Rosa Parks to Steve Jobs.
The next Pennsylvania town to host the mobile museum will be Punxsutawney, from March 31 to April 1.
