E.C. 'Kaye' Brown

E.C. “Kaye” Brown, 68, of Butler, formerly of Portersville, passed away Saturday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 23, 1944, in Ellwood City, and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Florence Ramsden Short.

Along with her husband, she owned and operated the Little Red Hen Country Gift Shop in Portersville for 20 years prior to her retirement.

She crocheted more than 9,000 hats for the Caps For Kids program.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” Brown, who she married May 15, 1964; one son, Dr. James (Michelle) Brown of Berwick, Pa.; two grandchildren, Deanna Nicole Gast and Jessica Lynn Brown, both of Berwick; three siblings, Thomas H. (Phyllis) Short of Cleveland, Ohio, Elizabeth (Fred) Bauder of Portersville and Samuel (Alice) Short of Harmony; a sister-in-law, Barbara Pfeifer of Prospect; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BROWN — There will be no public visitation for E.C. “Kaye” Brown, who passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Portersville Bible Church, Portersville, with the Rev. Michael Charles officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Edward L.
