With warming weather, Butler city officials are prepared to let pickleball players and skaters utilize parks into the night.

Councilman Dan Herr announced at a meeting Monday evening, March 23, that he would instruct the city’s parks employees to turn the lights on for the skate park and pickleball courts starting Saturday and Sunday.

He said lights can be expected on between the hours of 5 and 10 p.m.

During Monday’s meeting, the city also approved a request from the Butler YMCA to use all seven pickleball courts and adjacent parking lots at Ritts Park from 5:45 to 8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday between May 4 and Oct. 6.

Herr said he will post the YMCA’s schedule at the park and on the city website in the near future.
