Butler chooses parking payment vendor
With digital kiosks expected to be installed soon, Butler city officials selected a payment processing vendor for the parking department.
CardPointe, a cloud-based platform offered by payment solutions company CardConnect, will be the city’s primary way of managing payments from the future parking kiosks and for parking tickets.
City council voted 4-0 to select CardPointe as the vendor during a meeting Monday evening, March 23.
Mayor Bob Dandoy said in the future, the city will consider doing all of its digital payments for things like fees through the CardPointe platform.
“Eventually, we want to move everything in the city over to them because we’ve got this hodgepodge of different processors,” he said.
As for a timeline on actually installing the kiosks, Butler parking manager Jimmy Chiprean said they have been ordered but are still “three or four weeks” out from receiving them.
“There’s the installation and then getting the back office work together,” he added.
All in all, Dandoy estimates between that and training, it will still be “a while yet” before people can expect to see or use them.
“When we do (have them ready), it’s going to be a big rollout,” he said.
