Mars track splits meet with Hampton; Planets flag football romps Nazareth Prep: Roundup
Emma Bloom won the 100-meter hurdles and Audrey Lyker the 300 hurdles as Mars’ girls track and field team edged Hampton 71-70 on Monday.
Freshman Carly McKenna took first in the 400 for the Planets, while Kenzi Forsythe (shot put) and Tatum Empey (javelin) both won in the field.
In the boys meet, Mars’ Grady Knauf, Scott Kelly and Luke Dawson finished 1-2-3 in the 3,200 run, but Hampton won 75-66.
Jackson Everhart took first in the triple jump, Asher Pesanka won the discus and Carter Emanuele the shot put for the Planets.
Seneca Valley sweeps Pine-Richland — Both Raiders teams improved to 3-0, the boys downing the Rams 110-35 and the girls winning 87-57.
Miley Gratton scored a pair of touchdowns to lead Mars to a 46-12 victory over Nazareth Prep.
Also scoring for the Planets were Gemma Fratto, MacKenzie Powell, Shelby Jazbinsek, Arianna Rhedrick and Reese Vuckovich.
North Catholic did not drop a single game in a 5-0 sweep of Highlands.
Included in the win were singles victories from Justin Garvey, Alex Weber and Jake Sinclair.
Mars fell to Hopewell by scores of 25-11, 25-7 and 25-12. No other details were available.
