Show in East Brady helps 5 Star Wrestling
Five Star Wrestling is trying to get back on its feet.
Earlier this month, the company’s 2,000-pound, $4,000 steel frame for a wrestling ring was stolen from Butler Mini Storage on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The ring was not insured.
Owner Joe Rogers of Butler and some of his wrestlers decided not to throw in the towel but to work to get the company going.
A Jan. 25 show will take place at the East Brady Community Center, 502 Ferry St., East Brady. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and the show, which costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Rogers said several wrestlers are working at the event for free to help the company recoup financially. Additionally, Pittsburgh-based wrestling promoter IWC is allowing the company to borrow a ring for the show. Rogers said he is working on buying insurance for other company property.
If people do not want to go to the show but still want to help, Rogers said they can donate at www.gofundme.com/FiveStarWrestling.
“We’re trying to use all avenues,” Rogers said.
His goal is to get a ring for a charitable show in April at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie. This is the second year his company has done a show for the Shriners.
Rogers said one of his daughters has disabilities, and the Shriners have helped her.
Rogers is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest or to the property. His phone number is 724-256-1774. He also said information could be given to the Butler state police barracks at 724-284-8100.
