Adoring Christ Thru Song’s Easter concert recognized 25th anniversary

After a quarter century, Adoring Christ Thru Song is still living up to its namesake.
The organization put on its annual Easter concert Saturday evening, March 14, at the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church in Butler. A second performance of the concert was held Sunday afternoon at the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock.
To mark its silver jubilee, ACTS returned to “Acts: a choral musical drama,” a performance based around the Acts of the Apostles from the Bible. “Acts” is also the first performance the group put on a quarter-century ago.
“We’re still here 25 years later and we’re still performing,” Justin Drozynski, the group’s social media and website manager said Sunday.
ACTS’ most recent performance features volunteers serving as the choir, orchestra and actors for the show. The group currently consists of about 100 volunteers from 35 churches across the region.
“I think it’s beautiful to see everybody willing to give what they can offer to this,” Drozynski said.
He said having all those people unite behind one cause proves that Christians can unite behind their shared beliefs and come together for the greater good.
“I think our success says a lot about the community and their willingness to find unity behind spreading the word of God,” he said.
Drozynski said the group is always looking for more hands to join and there are plenty of roles for those who may not be musically or theatrically inclined.
“As we continue for the years to come, we’d love to get new members. We have a lot of older members who can share a lot of wisdom to younger people. We’d love to help pass that torch and share those lessons,” he said.
ACTS puts on three performances per year: for Easter, the Fourth of July and Christmas.
