Thomas W. Carlson

Thomas W. Carlson, 88, of Wyomissing, Pa., passed away Saturday at the Highlands of Wyomissing.

He was the loving husband of Burnedette (Bunny) McDowell for over 65 years.

Born in Butler, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruth (Braund) Carlson.

He was a graduate of Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school in 1945 and served for a year on the USS Iowa, making a trip to Japan during that time.

He spent his professional life in the retail business, retiring in 1989 as manager of the Bon Ton Store in Wyomissing, Pa.

Thomas was as an active member of the Lincoln Park Community Methodist Church for many years.

He was also a 55-year member of the Butler Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Candace C., wife of Mark Davis; four grandchildren, Taylor, wife of Trevor Steege, Madison, wife of Casey Lytle, Logan Davis and Carlson Davis.

He also is survived by three dear great-grandchildren, Brantley Lytle, Brooklyn Steege and Houston Steege; and his sister, Joyce Shields of Grand Blanc, Mich.

Thomas was predeceased by two brothers, William and Donald Carlson.

CARLSON — Services for Thomas W. Carlson, who died Saturday, March 5, 2016, will be privately conducted at the family's convenience.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Endowment funds of the Highlands at Wyomissing, 2000 Cambridge Ave, Wyomissing, PA 19610 or Lincoln Park Community Methodist Church, 1 Carlisle Ave, Reading, PA 19609.Edward J.
