Butler Area Public Library scaling back hours of operation

Butler Area Public Library Butler Eagle File Photo

Butler Area Public Library is reducing its open hours because of “a significant rise in operating costs.”

Effective April 6, the library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The library is currently open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

A news release from the library said costs have increased for utilities, materials and essential services that keep the building safe and comfortable. The change in hours is being made to maintain the quality of programs, collections and services, including engaging programs for children, tweens, teens and adults and preserve the long-term sustainability of the library.

For more information, email the library at baplreference@bcfls.org or call 724-287-1715.
