Students and community members turned out to Moniteau High School Monday, March 2, for the fourth annual memorial scholarship blood drive in honor of Olivia Bartholomew.

Bartholomew was a Moniteau student who died in 2021 at the age of 17 after battling mitochondrial disease. For years, Moniteau students and staff, along with northern Butler County residents, rallied around Bartholomew as she battled the illness.

“Olivia, in her 17 years, touched a whole community. Olivia was a true warrior and an inspiration to all who knew her,” a district advertisement promoting the drive said.

The blood drive is for the American Red Cross.
