Ethan Riffe and Carter Hoehn scored goals less than 90 seconds apart in the first period, giving top-seeded Seneca Valley a lead it would not surrender in a 5-1 victory over No. 8 Upper St. Clair in a Class 3A Penguins Cup quarterfinal Monday at Baierl Ice Complex.

Owen Martin, Carson Lindberg and Braden Morin each added a goal for the Raiders (20-0-1-1). John Sroka and Cooper Hoehn both added a pair of assists, and Chris Nichols stopped 17 shots in net.

SV will play in the semifinals Monday, March 9, at Robert Morris University’s Island Sports Center against the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between North Allegheny and Pine-Richland.
