Dominic 'Mickey' Rovetto

Mickey Rovetto

Dominic “Mickey” Rovetto, 75, of North Richland Hills, Texas, formerly of Butler, passed away Saturday.

Born in Butler, Mickey lived in Texas since 1993. Before going to Texas, he lived in North Carolina, Kansas, Louisiana, Delaware and Missouri because of employment commitments.

He served his country as a proud member of the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961.

Mickey spent his whole life in the dry-cleaning and laundry industries. He attended school at the National Drycleaning Institute in Silver Spring, Md. Over the next 42 years, his career exploded, beginning as a manager, owner operator, vice president of operations, sales professional, district manager, and vice president of sales. He retired in 2004 from Ecolab Inc.

One of the highlights of his career was having a contract with the University of North Carolina Athletic Department for the cleaning of the football and basketball uniforms, etc. This was a great honor for someone who was an avid sports fan.

He valued his friendships with people who he met throughout his life and always stayed in touch with those he felt close to.

“You meet a lot of people in your life, you make a lot of acquaintances, but you can count your true friends on one hand” was a saying that he used many times. He felt blessed because of the number of people who he had the opportunity to meet.

He loved his family, and he was very proud of his Italian heritage.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Lou Rovetto; his sons, Dominic Jr. and his wife, Debbie, and David and his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Denise Scramlin and her husband, Jeff; his grandson, Dominic “Nicky” Rovetto; and his stepsons, Steve and Barry Gilbreath and their families.
