Barbara Taylor

Barbara Jean Taylor, 58, of Slippery Rock, passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, following a 4-year illness.

Born in Hazelton, Pa. on Dec. 27, 1962, she was the daughter to Robert J. Gaudio and Janet Zanolini Gaudio. She married Mark R. Taylor on Aug. 20, 1988.

Barbara was a recreational therapist and worked for the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Butler. She enjoyed her work and helping to restore veterans’ health through the developing of skills and participation in recreation.

She graduated from Bishop Hafey High School and later Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau.

Barbara was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock. She enjoyed collecting and learning about antiques, gardening and working on all kinds of puzzles, including jigsaw and crossword. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Mark, at home; son, Luke Robert Taylor of Slippery Rock; mother, Janet Gaudio of Mountain Top, Pa.; and sister, Lisa (Jeff) Schwedock of Los Angeles, Calif.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Gaudio and her brother, Robert J. Gaudio Jr.

Taylor — The family of Barbara Jean Taylor, who died Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, will observe a memorial service later when health conditions permit people to gather more safely.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
