Police investigate potential shots fired in Freeport
Police investigated multiple reports of shots fired in Freeport on Sunday, Feb. 22, but no evidence was found.
The reports came in at 4:50 p.m. for shots fired, according to Southern Armstrong Regional Police Capt. Hunter Tackett. The caller said the shots came from the 100 block of Washington Street.
Police said they had received numerous calls about the area in the past 36 hours. Police investigated into the early morning Monday due to the nature of the tips but were unable to locate evidence of shots fired.
Police said they will continue to investigate, but there was no danger to public safety.
Other residents reported they heard different sounds such as a transformer explosion or a car backfiring in addition to gunshots.
