Police: Man, woman attempt to steal thousands of dollars in gaming consoles

A man and woman are accused of attempting to steal more than $1,000 in gaming consoles from Walmarts in Butler and Allegheny counties.

Honny Alfredo Rosario, 31, of Hazleton, and Yaderlin R. De Los Santos Orozco, 29, of West Hazleton, were both charged Sunday, Feb. 15, by Butler Township police with two felony counts of using a counterfeit access device and one felony count each of conspiracy and dealing in unlawful funds following a Feb. 15 incident. Rosario was additionally charged with misdemeanor identity theft.

Police said they were dispatched Sunday to Walmart in Butler Township for reports of suspected fraud. Police said the two arrived to pick up an order for two PlayStation 5 consoles valued at $1,057.88.

The order was placed under a different name. Police said a Walmart associate became suspicious when De Los Santos Orozco presented a digital driver’s license on his phone with the fake identity.

Police said the manager recognized their vehicle and said it had been involved in similar transactions at least five times before. The manager then contacted the man whose identity was used for the order, and the man confirmed the transaction was fraudulent.

Police were contacted after the two left the scene.

According to police, a camera then witnessed the vehicle drive toward Moon Township. Moon Township police then conducted a traffic stop after the vehicle was seen leaving the Moon Township Walmart and one game console was recovered.

Preliminary hearings for the two have not yet been scheduled.
