Nancy A. Mooney
Nancy A. Mooney, 83, of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township, formerly of Ross Township, died Tuesday evening at Sherwood Oaks.
Born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Andrew and Nellie Carolyn Worthington Aeberli.
Nancy attended Chatham College and received degrees in mathematics and chemistry. Upon graduation, she was employed at Carnegie Tech in the metallurgy research lab. She later became a devoted housewife and avid knitter and quilt maker. During her retirement at Sherwood Oaks, she continued to knit hundreds of tassel caps for needy children.
Mrs. Mooney was a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of North Hills in Ingomar. She had been active in the church craft group.
She was the mother of David Mooney and his wife, Janet, of Boiling Springs, Pa., and Dillon Mooney of Lawrenceville; the grandmother of Lillian and Adelaide Mooney of Boiling Springs; and the sister of Carolyn Bell of Richmond, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Mooney, who died on June 23, 2009; and by one brother, James “Slug” Aeberli.
MOONEY — Friends of Nancy A. Mooney, who died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Township.
