Anselm Stephen 'Steve' Francese Jr.
Anselm Stephen “Steve” Francese Jr., 72, of Butler passed away at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Jeannette, Pa., to the late Anselm Stephen Francese Sr. and Clura Mae McCullough Francese.
Mr. Francese was a graduate of Hempfield High School and went on to study engineering at St. Vincent College and the University of Pittsburgh.
He worked for Kennametal and Magnetics, a division of Spang & Co.
Steve was a member of the St. Fidelis Parish in Meridian. He enjoyed car cruises, street machines, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Francese is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. (DiFonso) Hozempa Francese; three sons, A. Stephen “Steve” Francese III of Butler, Vince Hozempa of Ashburn, Va., and Larre Hozempa and his wife, Stephanie, of Morgantown, W.V.; four daughters, Michelle Francese Ciora and her husband, Richard, of Butler, Stephanie Francese Kelley of New Market, Md., Bernadette Hozempa Schwartz and her husband, Karl, of Wexford and Christine Hozempa McBrien of Cranberry Township; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Alfred Francese and his wife, Judy, of Greensburg; one sister, Carla Jean Francese of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Elizabeth (Avalli) Francese.

There will be no public visitation.A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with Father James Murphy officiating.Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
