CRANBERRY TWP — A new Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its doors in the township on Wednesday, Feb. 11, marking the chain’s second location in the community.

Franchise owner Andrew Manzo — who spent 21 years working his way up from crew member to manager — celebrated the milestone with representatives from the township and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce during a ribbon-cutting at 1686 Route 228.

Manzo said the chain’s other restaurant at 20300 Route 19 in the Ogle Station plaza has been successful and expects that to carry over to his store.

“The other location’s very busy, and it’s actually one of the busiest ones in the area,” Manzo said. “We expect to be busy as well. We want both stores rising up together, being a part of Cranberry and supporting the town.”

After gaining meaningful experience at the original location in Point Pleasant, N.J. — which now serves as a training facility — Manzo was ready for the next step.

He moved to the Pittsburgh area seven years ago to help expand the chain’s footprint. At that time, Jersey Mike’s operated five local stores. Now, there are about 30 locations across Western Pennsylvania.

“Coming up to Cranberry now — it’s a great market,” Manzo said. “I love the people, and I’m just really excited to be a part of it.”

As part of the opening, the new location partnered with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Manzo said roughly 5,000 free sub coupons were given out to all local businesses within a 1-mile radius. The coupons are good for one free regular sub with a $3 donation to the foundation.

“It’s a great way to kind of bring everyone in, try the product and raise money for an awesome cause,” he said.

After the owners of the first location joined the Butler County Chamber of Commerce upon their arrival, a representatives were quick to make Manzo feel welcome.

“It’s exciting for all of us at the chamber,” said Dan Kovach, the chamber’s director of operations. “Having multiple locations of the same business is incredible and just helps grow commerce around the area. They do such great things here, and we’re incredibly excited to have them.”

Jersey Mike’s operates 3,271 locations across the country, including 103 in Pennsylvania, according to its website.

The new store will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
