Adrian Lavorini breaks record for Knoch swimming in dual-meet vs Butler: Roundup

During his team’s 89-43 swimming win over Butler on Tuesday, Knoch’s Adrian Lavorini set the Knights’ program record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.63 and also won in the 100 freestyle.

Jacob Ruediger (200 individual medley, 50 free) was a double winner, as well.

Butler (girls) 91, Knoch 74 — Rachel Smith (200 IM), Maya Keffalas (50 free, 100 free) and Amelia Turner (500 free) had solo wins for the Golden Tornado.

Girls basketball

Moniteau outscored West Shamokin by 10 points in the second half to prevail 38-34 on the road.

Emily Matz tallied 11 points for the Warriors (9-11), Maddy Eury eight points and six rebounds, and Charlotte Thompson eight points, seven boards and three blocks.

Karns City 38, DuBois Central Catholic 36 — The Gremlins (20-2) won despite scoring just three points on free throws in the fourth quarter.

Naomi Venesky scored 15 points in the win and Alivia Farren added 10.

Boys basketball

Dawson Cook paced a trio of Moniteau players who scored in double figures as the Warriors took down host West Shamokin 58-49.

Cook netted 15 points, Ian Ross 12 and Andrew Zepeda 11 for Moniteau (14-6).

Hickory 59, Slippery Rock 26 — The Rockets fell to 2-18 with this loss.
