Robert O. Smith, 99, of Renfrew passed away suddenly Monday morning in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Butler.

Born on Jan. 29, 1916, in Renfrew, he was the son of the late Harrison B. and Edna Yund Smith. He was born and lived in the same house his entire life.

He was a member of the Grace Church of Harmony.

Mr. Smith’s profession was farming. One of his favorite jobs was raising chickens and producing eggs. He had an egg route where he met and made many friends. Although farming was his occupation, he loved his work. He also enjoyed reading and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erla Mae Burr Smith, on June 25, 1991, and his brother.

He is survived by his two daughters, Margery (Timothy) Faux of Tulsa, Okla., and Jane Smith of Evans City; his two sons, Paul (Patricia) Smith of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Ronald “Snuffy” (Betty) Smith of Renfrew; his 11 grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren.

SMITH — The friends of Robert O. Smith, who passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, will be received from 6 p.m. to the time of the funeral services at 8 p.m. Friday at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Burial will be Monday in Butler County Memorial Park.The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Butler Salvation Army, 313 W.
