Adams Township police help AG, DEA in arrest
The Adams Township Police Department had a hand in helping the Drug Enforcement Administration, state attorney general and police in Allegheny and Armstrong counties apprehend a man trafficking fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine.
Glenn Thomas Jr., 36, was arrested this week following a search of his Pittsburgh apartment. The search allegedly discovered 1,200 grams of cocaine valued at $120,000, 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 46 grams of fentanyl, 60 grams of crack cocaine and about $5,000 in cash, state Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Thursday, Feb. 5.
The substances seized were valued at around $180,000. Two handguns — one allegedly stolen — were also taken.
“This takedown shows what can happen when law enforcement at all levels works together to keep communities safe from drug traffickers,” Sunday said. “We took a significant amount of drugs off the street, in addition to a dealer who illegally possessed firearms to protect his trade.”
Attempts to reach Adams Township Police Chief Shawn Anglum were unsuccessful.
Thomas is charged in the Western District Court of Pennsylvania with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and firearm possession. He’s being prosecuted by U.S. attorney Katherine Jordan and represented by federal public defender Gabrielle Lee.
The collaborating law enforcement agencies included the Adams Township Police Department, the attorney general’s office, DEA, Allegheny County district attorney’s narcotics unit and the Robinson Township, North Fayette, Scott Township, Ross Township and McKees Rocks police departments.
“When agencies come together like this, we can hit traffickers where it hurts and cut off the pipelines of poisons reaching neighborhoods,” Sunday said.
