PITTSBURGH — The transit agency serving the Pittsburgh area has voted to implement massive service cuts unless the state comes through with more funding.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County voted Wednesday to take cost-saving measures to help cut a $47 million budget deficit.

Port Authority CEO Steve Bland says the service cuts would eliminate more than 45 routes, unless the state comes through with more funding by March.

The agency also voted to hike base fares 25 cents for city bus routes and 50 cents for suburban routes on Jan. 1. It also plans to eliminate more than 500 jobs.

GETTYSBURG — A Fairfield man is being bound over for trial in the shooting death of a Pennsylvania game warden nearly two weeks ago.District Judge Mark Beauchat ordered Christopher Lynn Johnson returned to the Adams County prison without bail after a preliminary hearing Wednesday.The 27-year-old Johnson is charged with criminal homicide and weapons and hunting violations in the death of Wildlife Conservation Officer David Grove on the night of Nov. 11.Grove was the first state game warden killed in the line of duty in 95 years.
