Butler girls wrestling falls short: Roundup

Monica Osborne (235 lbs.), Brin Zehmisch (118) and Anastasia Manchester (136) had wins by fall, but Hickory beat Butler 36-24 in a girls wrestling match on Thursday night.

Boys basketball

Dawson Cook had a team-high 18 points, Brendin Sankey 14 and Andrew Zepeda and Weston Cook both had 10 as Moniteau beat Clarion 59-56 in boys basketball action.

Sankey also had 11 rebounds to round out a double-double.

Freeport 72, Valley 54 — Gavin Tola led all scorers with 27 points.

Girls basketball

Sydney Reiser guided Freeport with 10 points as the Yellowjackets beat Knoch 42-22 in a section matchup on Thursday night. The Knights fall to 4-17 overall and will finish their season up against Hampton on Monday.

North Catholic 59, Derry 10 — Khristina Rushak had 10 points in the Trojanettes’ sizable win.

Swimming

Roan Stauffer (200 free, 100 free) won a pair of events for Slippery Rock’s boys, and Jordan Eckenrode (100 back) added another, but the Rockets bowed to Sharon 63-46.

Sharon 104, Slippery Rock (girls) 52 — Gianna Savannah (200 IM, 100 fly) was a double winner, while Avery Grossman (100 back) also had an individual win.

Freeport (girls) 86, Deer Lakes 49; Freeport (boys) 62, Deer Lakes 49 — No further details were provided.

Rifle

Butler defeated Indiana by a 798-61x to 792-54x score.
