Freeport to hire contractor to replace high school library roof

BUFFALO TWP — Freeport Area School District officials are poised to accept a bid at their next meeting for the replacement of the high school library’s roof.

Brad Walker, the district’s director of finance and operations, gave a brief overview of the bidding process thus far during a school board committee meeting Wednesday evening, Feb. 4. He said the project had a number of bids, but the lowest was Blair Roofing of Hollidaysburg, Pa.

“We had 13 contracting companies attend the prebidding meeting, and we received 10 bids,” Walker said.

He said the project was initially expected to cost anywhere between $225,000 and $235,000, but Blair Roofing came in at $90,200.

A vote on whether to accept the bid will be held at the school board’s next voting meeting Wednesday, Feb. 11.
