CRANBERRY TWP — A Cranberry-based IT company is continuing a tradition of giving back to those who have served with a new event.

Continuum Veterans Foundation, the charity wing of Continuum Managed Services, is hosting its first fundraising gala at 6 p.m. April 20 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh.

Benefits from the gala will go to Hire Heroes USA, a Georgia-based organization dedicated to creating job opportunities for veterans and their spouses through job training and corporate engagement.

“We established the Continuum Veterans Foundation in recognition of the service that our veterans have given to our country, and I can speak on behalf of all Continuum employees when I say that we are honored to support our veterans’ pursuit of outstanding employment across the United States,” said Bob Kocis, chief revenue officer for Continuum.

The foundation dates back to 2012 and was started to provide financial support to local and national charities that focus on helping veterans find jobs in IT. For the last four years, Continuum Managed Services has given a $50,000 donation to the foundation to support its mission, Kocis said.

This year, however, Kocis and his wife wanted to have an event to bring in extra funds. More than 20 employees have stepped up to help organize the gala, he said. The goal is to net $25,000.

Tickets are $125 for each guest, and there is a discount for veterans, Kocis said. They can be purchased at www.biddingforgood.com/CVF.

Andy Russell, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and Army veteran, will be the keynote speaker at the gala. Russell played his rookie year for the Steelers in 1963, and temporarily left the team for the Army to fulfill his ROTC commitments. He returned to the team in 1966.

Continuum Managed Services employs more than 1,400 employees globally and more than 250 at its Cranberry office.
