Tuition at BC3 to increase next year
BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College students who live in the county will see a 6 percent increase in tuition for the fall semester.
The college board of trustees Wednesday approved hiking the tuition to $84 per credit, an increase of $5.
All students also pay $20 in fees per credit. Those remain unchanged.
Students from other counties in the state will be charged $168 per credit, a $10 increase, and out-of-state students will be charged $252 per credit, a $15 increase.
The changes are effective July 1.
Jim Hrabosky, vice president of finance at the college, said the tuition increase is primarily needed to cover the costs of inflation.
After approving the tuition increase, the board approved a $30.5 million budget for the 2010-11 year.
