Freezing temperatures Wednesday will persist through week
Temperatures including wind chills throughout Wednesday, Jan. 28, are expected to be in the negatives throughout the day, according to a National Weather Service spokesperson in Pittsburgh.
The spokesperson said temperatures without wind chills would be in the teens in the morning, but wind chills have pushed temperatures into the single-digit negatives.
Winds throughout the day will be around 10 mph, he said.
Temperatures may jump to around zero degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon but will be back into the single digits and negatives tonight.
The weather service said there may be some light flurries throughout the day, but little to no accumulation is expected.
The spokesperson added ice thickness on the Allegheny River is 1-3 inches on the upper portion and 3-6 inches on the lower portion.
Temperatures are expected to stay consistent throughout the week with the coldest being Thursday and Friday nights. The spokesperson said temperatures Friday night will be into the negative teens, but winds are expected to slow.
