PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area woman will spend life in prison for killing a pregnant teen she lured to her apartment, drugging the teen and cutting the child from the womb.

In March, an Allegheny County judge found Andrea Curry-Demus, 40, of Wilkinsburg guilty but mentally ill of second-degree murder, which carries the mandatory life sentence formally imposed on Monday. The judge also tacked on 20 years for kidnapping.

At her sentencing, Curry-Demus apologized to the family of 18-year-old Kia Johnson.

Curry-Demus had been telling her family she was pregnant and killed Johnson and took the baby in July 2008.
