15 volunteer fire departments receive $267K in state grants

HARRISBURG — Fifteen volunteer fire departments and emergency medical service providers in Butler County recently received state grants totaling more than $267,000.

Here are the organizations and the money each received:

Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association:$19,620 plus $9,969 for its EMS unit; Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association:$20,288 plus $3,668 for its EMS unit; Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company:$19,930; East Butler Volunteer Fire Department:$21,480 plus $5,442 for its EMSunit; Greenwood Village Volunteer Fire Department:$19,000; Herman Volunteer Fire Company:$21,791; Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Department:$19,222; Lyndora Volunteer Fire Company:$20,240; Meridian Community Volunteer Fire Company:$23,651; Oakland Township-Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department:$19,930; Sarver Volunteer Fire Company:$21,480; and South Butler Volunteer Fire Department:$22,101.

Rep. Brian Ellis, R-Butler, announced the grants Thursday and stated the money is supposed to be used for repairing or buying equipment.
