The scene of a three-vehicle accident on Route 422 in Summit Township Thursday.

SUMMIT TWP — At least three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident that closed Route 422 in both directions Thursday evening.

The accident occurred on Route 422 east about 300 yards east of Old Route 422 just before 4:30 p.m.

Fire fighters removed the driver's door from one of the cars to extract the driver.

Emergency responders closed the highway and detoured traffic to side roads around the crash scene. The highway was reopened around 6 p.m.

The Lick Hill, Herman, Oneida Valley and East Butler volunteer fire departments responded to the accident along with East Butler and Butler ambulances, and state police.

State police are investigating and none of the names of people involved were immediately available Thursday.
