ERIE — Former Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper has scheduled a news conference to announce she's running in the May primary against Democrat incumbent Erie County Executive Barry Grossman.

A newspaper says the 55-year-old Dahlkemper's campaign says she'll detail her reasons for running at a news conference today.

Dahlkemper was elected to Congress in 2008, but lost Pennsylvania's 3rd District Seat to Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly of Butler in 2010.

Grossman, who is 66, is seeking a second four-year term as executive.

Two Republicans are also running for that party's nomination as county executive.

BREEZEWOOD — Officials say a charter bus taking Penn State students back to campus after spring break caught fire on Interstate 70, but no one was hurt.It happened around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near Breezewood and the bus was safely evacuated. Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers says it was one of three buses bringing students from Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., back to the University Park campus after spring break.Powers says the bus was sponsored by the Washington DC Alumni Association.

MCKEESPORT — Police in Western Pennsylvania say a woman who had been arrested on a charge of public drunkenness hanged herself in a Pittsburgh-area jail cell.The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office says the 52-year-old woman was found unresponsive in the McKeesport police station at about 9:30 p.m. Friday.Police and paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive her, but she was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.After an autopsy Saturday the medical examiner’s office determined the woman killed herself.
