Icy patches possible Wednesday evening into Thursday

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh anticipates icy conditions Wednesday evening, Jan, 14, into Thursday as temperatures will drop 10 degrees in about four hours, a spokesperson said.

Precipitation will begin with light rain in the morning that will switch to a wintry mix and later snow in the afternoon. The cold front is expected to come through between 2 and 3 p.m., the spokesperson from the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh said.

Temperatures began in the high 30s Wednesday and will drop to the high 20s, the spokesperson explained.

Precipitation is expected to stop between 1 and 2 a.m. Thursday morning, but more showers are expected Thursday. Temperatures to begin the morning will be around 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Total snow accumulation is expected to be less than an inch, but roads are expected to have icy patches. Wind gusts during the evening are expected at 20-25 mph.
