Amelia Christine Moore

Amelia Christine Moore, 24, after a courageous 10-year battle with complications from a genetic muscular disease, passed away and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at her home in Saxonburg.

She was born June 3, 1991, in Butler to Andrew Lindsay Moore and Dorothy “Dory” Lynn Hogg Moore. She graduated in 2010 from Evangel Heights Christian Academy in Sarver and had taken classes at Butler County Community College.

She was a member of the Community Alliance Church in Butler, was mission minded and was passionate in sharing her faith. She advocated, encouraged and supported others with similar diseases. She participated in English-style horse riding, was active with sewing, scrapbooking and reading. She enjoyed musicals and loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her parents at home in Saxonburg; her sister, Lindsay V. Moore Trate and her husband, Steven, of Carnegie; her maternal grandmother, Christine Elizabeth Hogg of Slippery Rock; paternal grandfather, William B. Moore; and her paternal stepgrandmother, Sharon Moore; her nephew, Isaac “Ike” William Trate; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Robert Arthur Hogg; and her paternal stepgrandmother, Maureen Moore.

MOORE — The family of Amelia Christine Moore, who died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Krajacic, pastor of the Community Alliance Church, presiding.Interment will follow immediately after the service at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Great Commission Fund in care of the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, PA 16001; or the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation www.UMDF.org.
