Jo Ann Shaffer Tagg Newcomer

Jo Ann Shaffer Tagg Newcomer, 74, of Mount Chestnut passed away Friday at UPMC Presbyterian.

She was born Feb. 22, 1943, in Pittsburgh, to the late William C. Shaffer and the late Helen J. Van Hoesen Shaffer.

Mrs. Newcomer was a member of the Portersville Bible Church. She was devoted to her family and church. Jo Ann enjoyed gardening, singing, serving in the Senior Ministry and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her second husband, Richard Dale Newcomer, whom she married Feb. 14, 2009; one son, Nathanael S. Tagg, and his wife, Carolyn, of Nolanville, Texas; two daughters, Elisabeth A. Cordray of Arlington, Va., and M. Erin Huxtable and her husband, Luke, of Sarisbury Green, United Kingdom; two grandchildren, Elisa Rose T. Tagg and Connor James T. Tagg; and two nieces, Tracy L. Stevenson and Jody L. Kohser.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years, Donald C. Tagg, who died Nov. 6, 2006.

NEWCOMER — Friends of Jo Ann Shaffer Tagg Newcomer, who died Friday, July 7, 2017, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Portersville Bible Church, 156 E. Portersville Road, Portersville, with the Rev. Michael Charles, pastor, officiating.
