Corey’s Cruise, foundation finds building to call home

Just a few months after a successful event in remembrance of Corey Comperatore, event organizers have found a home in Buffalo Township to plan the 2026 edition.

The Corey’s Cruise Facebook account announced in December that the team responsible for the event, as well as the soon-to-form Corey Comperatore Foundation, would be moving into a building at 746 Ekastown Road in Buffalo Township.

Comperatore attended a rally for then-candidate President Donald Trump at the Butler Farm Show grounds in July 2024 and was killed by a bullet fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks during an assassination attempt on Trump. He died trying to shield his wife, Helen Comperatore, and two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee.

Near the anniversary of his death, the Comperatore family hosted Corey’s Cruise, an event that saw more than 1,500 motorcycles participate in a memorial ride. After a successful first year, family and organizers began to meet at CID Associates — a manufacturer along Ekastown Road — to plan the second annual cruise.

While driving home from one of those meetings, Helen Comperatore noticed a sign outside the building and decided it might be time for the cruise to have its own home.

“I went and I talked to my girls about it, and we decided to take a look. It was immaculate. It had offices, a kitchen and a big meeting room, and I was sold on it instantly,” she said.

She added the groups involved are excited to open the building to the public, as it will not just serve as the planning site for next year’s cruise, but as a place to remember Corey Comperatore.

“This is Corey’s building, and we’re going to decorate it with memorabilia and all the things people have sent us,” Helen Comperatore said.

A ribbon-cutting for the building is being planned, she said.

The family also is starting the Corey Comperatore Foundation, which is dedicated to “giving back to the people and causes that brought (Comperatore) joy and to those he served with unwavering faith and dedication,” the Corey’s Cruise website said.

Some examples listed on the cruise’s website include churches, first responders and dog rescues.

Helen Comperatore said next year’s cruise is slated for July 25, 2026, at the Butler Fairgrounds in Franklin Township.

“It’s going to be so different from the last one,” she said.

Among changes may be the venue.

“We hope everybody comes out,” she said.

She said more announcements about Corey’s Cruise 2026 can be expected in coming weeks.
