Zuzack breaks SRU swimming record
Slippery Rock University's Jen Zuzack concluded her collegiate career with a school-record 53.04 seconds in the 100 freestyle at the Boiler Make It Meet hosted by Purdue University Saturday.
She also achieved a season-best 24.42 in the 50 free. Zuzack, however, was unable to trim her times to the level needed to earn a berth to this year's national championship meet.
Erike Brunner scored eight goals and added four assists and four steals to lead The Rock to a 2-1 record at the Hunkler Shootout Saturday.SRU lost to Gannon 7-6 before defeating Grove City 14-1 and Mercyhurst 12-5.Amanda Zychowski, an A-C Valley graduate, had two goals, one assist and one steal in the loss to Gannon, which enjoyed a 4-0 lead and held off The Rock (3-9).
Preston Gibbs won the long jump (23-5) and triple jump (46-8½) to highlight The Rock's performance at the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at East Stroudsburg Saturday.Mike Heiser and Shayne Cooper finished 1-2 in the 55 hurdles (7.76 and 7.79, respectively).Tim Tray (15-8), Kurt Thompson (15-2) and Erik Dravenstott (attempted to clear 15-2) for a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault and Joe Labarbera was seventh.In the women's meet, Abby McKissick cleared 10-10 to win the pole vault title and Katie Jones was sixth (9-10).Kristen Jones was second in the long jump (18-2) and fifth in the 55 hurdles (7.44).Heather Kozuchowsky and Stacey McCombie was third (44-1½) and seventh (39-3) in the shot put.
